Loading Dock Equipment Installation, Repair & Service in North & South Carolina
RCI Doors™ installs and services loading dock equipment across North Carolina, including dock levelers, vehicle restraints, dock seals, dock shelters, edge-of-dock levelers, lift tables, and dock safety products.
Replacing outdated dock equipment improves loading and unloading speed, reduces forklift and product damage, controls heating and cooling loss, and helps your facility stay compliant with OSHA standards for material handling and powered industrial trucks.
Modern loading dock equipment delivers:
- Faster loading and unloading cycles, with fewer forklift trips per trailer
- A tighter trailer-to-dock seal, reducing energy loss in heated and cooled facilities
- Lower product and equipment damage from trailer creep and early departure
- A stronger compliance posture for OSHA inspections and insurance audits
- 24/7 reliability, with fewer unplanned shutdowns of shipping and receiving
Loading Dock Configurations We Service
RCI Doors™ services every common loading dock configuration found in North Carolina warehouses, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and retail back-of-house operations.
Whether your facility uses a flush dock for direct trailer access, an open or saw-tooth dock for high-traffic shipping, an enclosed dock for temperature-controlled goods, or a cantilever dock for heavy-equipment loading, our technicians install, repair, and maintain the equipment that keeps those docks safe and productive.
- Flush dock — the most common configuration; trailer backs flush to the building wall.
- Open dock — open-air dock used in warmer climates and high-traffic facilities.
- Saw-tooth dock — angled bays that allow more trailer positions in a tight yard.
- Enclosed dock — fully covered dock used for refrigerated, frozen, and clean-room operations.
- Cantilever dock — extended dock face for oversize trailers and equipment loading.
Safety First Service Always
RCI Doors™ has installed and serviced commercial loading dock equipment across North Carolina for more than 30 years. Our technicians are trained to AAADM standards and certified through ISN, and we follow manufacturer service procedures from Nordock, Pioneer Industrial Doors, Bluff Manufacturing, Nova Technology, DLM, Super Seal, Advanced Lifts, and Durable Corporation.
Every install includes documentation you can hand to an OSHA inspector or insurance auditor. No matter the project size — a single leveler swap or a multi-bay distribution center build-out — we deliver the same standard of safety, performance, and follow-through.

Does RCI Doors™ offer 24/7 emergency loading dock repair?
Yes. RCI Doors™ provides 24-hour emergency repair for loading dock equipment anywhere in North Carolina. For after-hours service call 336-626-5125, or 336-708-4141 in the Charlotte area; special emergency rates apply. Standard service hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Scheduled preventive maintenance plans are also available to reduce unplanned downtime.
How often should loading dock equipment be inspected and serviced?
Loading dock equipment should receive a full preventive maintenance inspection at least once a year, a more thorough operator inspection quarterly, and a quick visual check every day before use. High-volume facilities should service equipment more frequently. OSHA and most manufacturers require that levelers, vehicle restraints, dock seals, and lifts be kept in safe working condition at all times.
What does OSHA require for loading dock safety?
OSHA does not specify a particular product, but it does require trailers to be secured against movement before loading or unloading begins (29 CFR 1910.178(k) and (m)). Most facilities meet this requirement with a powered vehicle restraint, wheel chocks, or both. Powered vehicle restraints are strongly recommended for high-traffic docks because they prevent trailer creep, early departure, and forklift-related injuries.
What should I do if my dock leveler stops working?
If a dock leveler will not lower, will not return to its stored position, or makes grinding or banging noises, stop using it immediately and tag it out of service. Common causes include broken or weak springs, hydraulic leaks, worn lip hinges, and electrical faults. Call RCI Doors™ at 336-626-5125 for 24/7 emergency dock leveler repair anywhere in North Carolina.
How long does loading dock equipment typically last?
With proper maintenance, hydraulic dock levelers last 15 to 25 years, mechanical levelers 10 to 15 years, dock seals 5 to 7 years, and powered vehicle restraints 10 to 20 years. Actual lifespan depends on dock traffic, climate exposure, and service frequency. RCI Doors™ evaluates existing equipment and recommends repair or replacement based on safety, downtime, and total cost of ownership.
