Access Control Starts at the Perimeter
An automatic gate system is the first line of defense for vehicle traffic management, employee and visitor access, and facility security — and it needs to be specified correctly for your site’s traffic volume, security requirements, and physical footprint.
RCI Doors™ installs, services, and repairs commercial automatic gate systems across North Carolina and the greater Charlotte metro — including Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Charlotte, Huntersville, Rock Hill, and Fort Mill. Every system we install is matched to its application, wired with the right access control, and commissioned to UL 325 safety standards before handoff.
Manufacturers We Carry
Automatic Gate System Installation
We install and service the industry’s leading gate system brands. Every project we touch is held to five non-negotiables.
- Site-Specific System Design
Gate type, operator, and access control are selected for your traffic volume, security level, facility footprint, and operating environment — not pulled from a catalog. - UL 325-Compliant Installation
All vehicular gate operators must meet UL 325, the safety standard governing automatic gate systems. Every operator we install includes the required entrapment protection devices — photo eyes, reversing edges, and warning signage. - Full Access Control Integration
Card readers, keypads, telephone entry systems, radio controls, and loop detectors are specified and wired as part of every installation — not bolted on as an afterthought. - Licensed & Insured Installation
All installations are performed by RCI’s own licensed, insured technicians with manufacturer-specific training on every operator brand we carry. - Post-Installation Commissioning
Every system is tested, programmed, and adjusted before handoff — including access control credential setup, operator force and sensitivity settings, and safety device verification.
Automatic Gate System Services We Provide
- Install
New automatic gate system installation for commercial, industrial, government, and multi-family applications — including operator, access control, safety devices, and all wiring. - Maintain
Preventive maintenance agreements, annual safety inspections, UL 325 safety device testing, loop detector calibration, and operator adjustments. - Repair
24-hour emergency gate system repair, operator troubleshooting, access control service, loop detector replacement, and safety device repair. - Replace
Full gate system replacement, operator upgrades, access control modernization, and UL 325 compliance retrofit of legacy systems.
UL 325 is the UL safety standard for vehicular gate operators. It requires specific entrapment protection devices — photo eyes, reversing edges, and warning signage — on every automatic gate operator.
Non-compliant installations expose property owners to significant liability in the event of a pedestrian or vehicle entrapment incident. RCI Doors™ installs every gate system to UL 325, and can assess and bring existing non-compliant systems into compliance.
Automatic Gate Types We Install & Service
RCI Doors™ installs, services, and repairs every major automatic gate configuration for commercial and industrial applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of automatic gate systems does RCI Doors™ install?
RCI Doors™ installs swing gates, slide gates, bi-folding gates, vertical pivot gates, vertical lift gates, barrier arm systems, and traffic spike systems for commercial and industrial applications. We carry operators from 12 manufacturers including LiftMaster, HySecurity, Viking Access, DKS DoorKing, Eagle, and Tymetal — covering light-duty commercial through heavy-duty high-security installations.
What access control options are available for automatic gate systems?
RCI Doors™ integrates a full range of access control with every gate installation: card readers (proximity and smart card), keypads, telephone entry and intercom systems, radio controls and key fobs, and in-ground loop detectors for vehicle detection. We specify and wire access control as part of the installation — not as a separate subcontract — so every component is integrated and commissioned as a single system.
What is UL 325 and why does it matter for automatic gate systems?
UL 325 is the Underwriters Laboratories safety standard for vehicular gate operators. It requires specific entrapment protection devices — photo eyes, reversing edges, and warning signage — on every automatic gate operator. Non-compliant installations expose the property owner to serious liability in the event of a pedestrian or vehicle entrapment incident. Every gate operator RCI Doors™ installs is UL 325-compliant, and we can evaluate and retrofit existing systems that do not meet the current standard.
How often should automatic gate systems be serviced?
Annual preventive maintenance is recommended for commercial automatic gate systems, and high-cycle installations — barrier arms, busy industrial gates — benefit from semi-annual service. Regular maintenance catches operator wear, safety device drift, and access control issues before they cause a failure. RCI Doors™ offers preventive maintenance agreements that include annual UL 325 safety device testing, operator adjustment, loop detector calibration, and hardware inspection.
What is the difference between swing, slide, and vertical lift gate operators?
Swing gate operators use a hydraulic piston or jackscrew arm to open the gate on a hinge — best for lower-traffic sites with enough clearance for the gate to swing. Slide gate operators use a chain drive to move the gate laterally — better for higher-traffic sites or locations where a swing arc would interfere with traffic or structures. Vertical lift gate operators raise the gate overhead, similar to an overhead door — used in underground parking garages and sites with very limited horizontal clearance. RCI Doors™ evaluates your site during the assessment and recommends the right configuration for your traffic volume, security needs, and physical constraints.
Do automatic gate systems work during a power outage?
Most commercial automatic gate operators include battery backup that keeps the system operational through a power interruption. Operators can also be configured to fail-open or fail-secure depending on your facility’s requirements — fail-open for emergency egress compliance, fail-secure for high-security sites. RCI Doors™ configures power-loss behavior as part of every installation, and can add battery backup to existing systems that lack it.
Can you repair an automatic gate system you didn’t install?
Yes. RCI Doors™ services, repairs, and replaces gate systems from every major operator manufacturer — regardless of who installed them. We carry parts for all the brands we represent and troubleshoot unfamiliar systems routinely. If an existing system has UL 325 deficiencies or is beyond economical repair, we will document what we find and provide a replacement recommendation as part of the service call.
