RCI Doors™ knows your storefront door is the first thing every customer touches — and a stuck slider, a sagging hinge, a closer that won’t latch, or a door that fails its ADA inspection puts both your revenue and your liability exposure at risk. That’s why we install, service, and repair commercial storefront doors and automatic sliding entrances across the Carolinas — manual aluminum systems, automatic sliders, panic hardware, and ADA retrofits, all from one veteran-owned local team. Benefits of using RCI Doors™ include:
Commercial storefront doors come in two distinct product families — manual aluminum-framed swing doors and automatic sliding entrances — plus all the hardware that runs them: panic devices, closers, locks, electric strikes, hinges, and ADA-compliant low-energy operators. RCI Doors™ is a veteran-owned North Carolina-based business that installs, services, and repairs commercial storefront doors and their hardware for retail, restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, and offices across the Carolinas.
We provide new installations, replacements, and service for any commercial storefront door system including:
Storefront doors come in two distinct product families — and the right choice depends on how much foot traffic you handle, whether you need ADA compliance, and how the entrance reads to your customers. A short guide:
The default for most retail, restaurants, offices, and small commercial facades. Aluminum frames, tempered glass, and standard hardware — door closer, panic device, lock, and hinges. Lowest cost, fastest to install, easiest to service. Right for facilities with moderate foot traffic and no ADA mandate.
Full-energy sliders for high-traffic main entrances — supermarkets, hospitals, hotels, large retail, transit hubs. Governed by ANSI/BHMA A156.10 and required to be installed and inspected by an AAADM-certified technician. Higher upfront cost, but they pay back in throughput, energy savings (auto-close), and a frictionless customer experience.
The most common ADA retrofit path. Add a low-energy operator (ANSI/BHMA A156.19) and a push-plate or wave activator to an existing manual storefront door. Lower cost than a slider, satisfies ADA, takes a few hours per opening. Right for offices, restrooms, and any storefront with an accessibility complaint or audit risk.
Premium aesthetic for boutiques, dealerships, professional offices, and modern restaurants. Tempered glass, minimal framing, often paired with concealed closers and continuous hinges. Higher install precision required. Right when the entrance is part of the brand.

Benefits of Using AAADM Certified Inspectors
Automatic doors are like any piece of machinery and require proper installation and maintenance to remain reliable and safe to use. Following important standards for the installation and maintenance of automatic doors provides owners with the assurance that these doors will be safe and reliable.
Our technicians are certified through The American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM). AAADM provides training on the standards required for safe and reliable installation and inspection of automatic doors. This ensures that each RCI Doors™ technician understands the latest standards for automatic pedestrian doors. They attend a 2-day course that includes hands-on, expert training and an exam to demonstrate their mastery of the standards.
As AAADM Certified Inspectors, we are committed to you and the safety of your customers with post-installation and annual inspections.
Manual storefront doors are aluminum-framed glass swing doors operated by a customer pushing or pulling the handle — the default for most retail, restaurants, and small commercial facades. Automatic sliding storefront doors open under their own power when a sensor detects a person approaching — the standard for supermarkets, hospitals, hotels, and high-traffic main entrances. Automatic sliders are governed by ANSI/BHMA A156.10 and must be installed and inspected by an AAADM-certified technician. RCI Doors™ installs, services, and repairs both.
Automatic doors are one of the most reliable ways to achieve ADA compliance, but they are only compliant when the operator, hardware, activation method, and clear opening all meet code. The ADA requires a 32-inch minimum clear opening, one-handed activation, and closing force below 5 lbf on manual-override modes. RCI Doors™ audits every opening and installs ANSI/BHMA-compliant operators that satisfy both ADA and local building codes.
A properly maintained aluminum-framed storefront door system typically lasts 20–30 years, with hardware (closers, locks, hinges) requiring replacement every 7–12 years. Automatic sliding storefront operators typically last 10–15 years, with premium models on annual service agreements reaching 15–20 years. Safety sensors drift earlier and are usually replaced every 5–7 years. RCI Doors™ performs annual AAADM inspections, tunes operators that can be saved, and replaces operators that have reached end-of-life.
AAADM — the American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers — is the industry body that trains and certifies automatic door inspectors in the U.S. An AAADM certification means a technician has been trained on ANSI/BHMA A156.10 and A156.19 and is authorized to perform and sign off on annual safety inspections. Every RCI Doors™ technician who installs, services, or repairs an automatic storefront door is AAADM-certified.
Commercial automatic doors must be inspected at least once per year by an AAADM-certified technician, as required by ANSI/BHMA A156.10 and A156.19. Inspections should also occur after any impact, sensor replacement, or operator service. Annual inspection is also a condition of most automatic door manufacturer warranties. RCI Doors™ bundles annual AAADM inspections into our preventive maintenance agreements.
In most cases, yes. When the surrounding aluminum framing, glazing, and sidelites are sound, we replace just the door panel and rebuild the hardware — closer, hinges, lock, threshold, and weather stripping. That keeps the install fast, the cost in line with the actual damage, and the facade visually consistent. We replace the full system only when the framing itself is structurally compromised.
RCI Doors™ installs, services, and repairs door systems from leading storefront and operator manufacturers. We’re authorized for dormakaba, Oldcastle (OBE), US Aluminum, YKK AP, Republic, Mesker, Door Controls USA, Norton, LCN, SDC, and Detex. If you already have a storefront door from any of these brands, our techs are trained to service it.
